Charitable Union was the recipient of the Women of Impact funding at our October 12, 2021 meeting.
The Charitable Union is a non-profit organization that helps provide clothes and bedding to children, families and veterans.
Our donation will be used to purchase steel toed boots. Often an employer requires a worker to provide their own steel toe boots for positions requiring this protection, and the person applying has no means to pay for them. Providing new or gently used boots opens up these jobs to people who otherwise could not apply.
If you would like to donate online, their donation page is https://www.charitableunion.org/give/giving.html. Select the Shoegooder (Steel Toed Boot Fund) checkbox where it says “Other Reason for Donation (Please check how you wish your donation to be used)”. In the “Other Information you want to share” box, enter Women of Impact. If you donate on-line, could you please let us know by responding to the announcement email or filling out a contact form with the amount you donated so we can add it to our collective giving numbers.
You can also donate by check made out to “Charitable Union” (with “Steel Toed Boot Fund – WOI” in the memo line) to:

Founded in 1887, Charitable Union is a non-profit organization that helps provide clothes and bedding to children, families and veterans. Donations from local residents make it possible for them to help more than 11,000 people in Battle Creek and throughout Calhoun County every year. A few things set them apart from other places such as Goodwill and The Salvation Army in Battle Creek. For one, they provide clothes, bedding and household items for free to those in need. They also help people prepare for independence and self-sufficiency so they won’t need the Charitable Union’s anymore—allowing them to continually help new people who need their services.
